Jiraporn” points out that the “Settha” case does not affect the “Digital Wallet”, reiterates that Pheu Thai will not lose focus and continue to push forward the policy to success.

Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office and Deputy Leader of the Pheu Thai Party, spoke about the case where the Constitutional Court scheduled a hearing to rule on the qualifications of Mr. Settha Thavisin, Prime Minister, regarding the appointment of Mr. Pichit Chuenban as Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office on August 14, 2024, including the release of news that it may result in a change of Prime Minister and may affect the implementation of the digital wallet project.

Ms. Jiraporn stated that she believes that the past actions of Mr. Settha Thavisin, the Prime Minister, have been honest and sincere, and that members of the Pheu Thai Party are also confident in this. Meanwhile, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, as the leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, who was implicated as being positioned to replace him as t
he Prime Minister, has come out to deny that it is impossible.

In addition, Ms. Jiraporn reiterated that the Prime Minister’s case in the Constitutional Court will not affect the implementation of the 10,000 baht digital wallet project in any way because it is a project that the government has announced its policy to the parliament. Regardless of whether there is a lawsuit or not, the project will continue as before until it is completed.

On July 31, the digital wallet budget in the draft of the additional budget bill for fiscal year 2024 passed the third reading. Meanwhile, the budget for the digital wallet project in the draft of the budget bill for fiscal year 2025 also passed the first reading of the House of Representatives. It is currently under consideration by the committee. If the draft budget bill passes the third reading, it is expected that people will be able to spend 10,000 baht in digital wallets nationwide at the end of 2024, which will definitely help stimulate the economy to become lively
again.

‘As for the Pheu Thai Party, there is no movement in any preparations regarding the issue of changing the prime minister. At the moment, the only thing that the Pheu Thai Party, as the core of the government formation, is focusing on is pushing for various policies to solve the people’s problems as quickly as possible, especially the digital wallet policy that is now open for registration and has received great interest and response from the people,’ said Ms. Jiraporn.
