Mass of water from Borabue District overflows into Wapi Pathum District, villagers rush to move their belongings to escape the water.

Maha Sarakham, A huge amount of water from Borabue District, Maha Sarakham Province, has affected people in Wapi Pathum District, who must urgently move their belongings to escape the water, causing inconvenience to people in the area’s travel.

The news team traveled along the rural highway No. 4042 towards Ban Talat. The water flooded the road so much that it was impossible to see the road. Officials put up signs warning of flooding on the road, prohibiting small vehicles from passing.

In addition, many villagers came out to catch fish. They gave information that the flood had been occurring since yesterday evening and had risen to a high level in the middle of the night. The first area to receive water from Borabue District was Ban Pla Bu. The floodwater was over 2 meters high, causing the village to be stranded on an island and unable to leave the village. They had to use military vehicles to move people. Some people were unexpectedly affected and had to wade through the floodwater to get out of their ho
mes. Rescue workers who went to the area to help the villagers in Ban Pla Bu brought boats down to help the villagers who were floating in the rice fields because they couldn’t get out in time. The mass of water came very quickly. They brought boats out to pick them up and bring them back, which were a couple who returned to shore safely.

The water is currently affecting Ban Krayom, Nong Saeng Subdistrict, where villagers reported that in their 61 years of life, this is the first time they have encountered flooding. Last night at midnight, the water level surged into the house to a level higher than 50 centimeters, so they fled to save their lives. This morning (July 18), rescue workers went in to help move belongings with difficulty. They had to take a boat through the water current higher than 1 meter to take electrical equipment out in a chaotic situation.

The latest is that 6 sub-districts and 39 villages in Wapipathum District have been affected: Nong Saeng Sub-district, Pho Chai Sub-district, Ban Wai
Sub-district, Na Kha Sub-district, Khan Sub-district, and Hua Ruea Sub-district. Three roads have been flooded, and approximately 4,700 rai of agricultural land has been affected.

This afternoon, Mr. Sutin Khlangsaeng, Minister of Defense, will travel to provide support to people affected by flooding in Borabue and Wapipathum districts.
