PHUKET, Phuket police have arrested two mafia taxi drivers who attacked a taxi app driver while he was waiting for a passenger in a public area, resulting in a fractured skull.
Social media is sharing a clip of an incident where two young men ganged up to physically assault another man. The incident occurred on a public road in Soi Layan 1/1, Tambon Chengtalay, Amphoe Thalang, Phuket Province this morning (July 24). Initial assumptions are that it was an incident where different groups of taxi drivers assaulted each other.
Hours after the incident, the Cheang Thale Police Station was able to track down Mr. Suthon, 38, and Mr. Phichet, 34, the two perpetrators, for prosecution. Initially, the investigators charged them with jointly causing bodily harm to another person. They are waiting for the doctor’s diagnosis of the severity of the wounds in order to press additional related charges.
Mr. Wirot, 38, a taxi driver who was seriously injured and suffered a fractured skull and swollen face, was admitted to
Thalang Hospital for treatment and has now been transferred to Phuket Mission Hospital.
Pol. Col. Wiraphong Rakkhito, Superintendent of Cheang Thale Police Station, said that from the investigation, it was found that while Mr. Wirot was waiting for customers to contact him in the area, Mr. Suthon and Mr. Phichet came to talk and expressed their dissatisfaction by saying that they could not park and pick up passengers in the area. Mr. Wirot replied that they could not do so because the area was a public place. This caused the two men to be dissatisfied and they went to attack and punch and kick Mr. Wirot until he was injured.
While the injured friend recounted the incident that while the incident was about to happen, the injured person called him saying that he was going to pick up a customer in the Laguna Layan area. Then he parked in an alley about 2 km away from the queue until 2 men rode a motorcycle, presumably from the queue in that area. Then the injured person got off the motorcycle and the incident
as seen in the clip happened. The 2 men came to ask the injured person if he came to open the app, but the injured person said that he came to receive work as an agent. What if he came to open the app? Because of those words, he was punched and physically assaulted.
