Samut Prakan, A perverted motorcycle taxi driver followed three female students before sexually harassing them by grabbing their breasts in the middle of Samut Prakan. The police have now arrested him, but he has denied the charges, claiming that the girls smiled at him first.
A female student filmed a motorcycle taxi driver trying to ride up to her before reaching out to grab her breast, causing the female student to shout for help. The incident occurred on July 12, 2014 at approximately 3:00 p.m. After the incident, the female student decided to go to the motorcycle taxi stand where the perpetrator was located in Soi Udomdet, but when she arrived, she could not find him. Her fellow taxi drivers went to tell the perpetrator’s mother that her son had molested a student. The perpetrator’s mother called her son to apologize for what happened and negotiated with him not to report the incident to the police. She then stuffed 500 baht into her hand, saying it was for emotional support. When her mother found out
about the incident, she traveled to the scene and took her to meet the headman of Bang Muang sub-district for advice. The headman advised her to return the money and use the video clip as evidence to prosecute the case.
Ms. A, 15 years old, the victim, is a vocational certificate student in the first year of school at an institute in the Bang Na area. She said that after school, she and Ms. B, 15 years old, along with her older sister, Nan, 17 years old, invited each other to go buy papaya salad. They rode a motorcycle together, 3 people, with her older sister driving, her friend sitting in the middle, and herself sitting at the back. While riding to Soi Udomdet, a man about 40 years old wearing a motorcycle taxi vest came up to her and teased her that all three of them were cute. Later, after teasing her, he tried to ride after her, so she took out her phone to take a picture. Because she was afraid that something bad would happen to her older sister, she slowed down the motorcycle. The man took the opportu
nity to reach out and grab her breast before riding away quickly. They then went to ask for help from a good Samaritan who was a motorcycle taxi driver in the area.
Ms. May, 39, the mother of Ms. A, filed a complaint with the Samut Prakan City Police Station, confirming that she will take the case to the end so that this man will not do this to anyone else. Most recently, the police were able to control Mr. Suphot, 43, the perpetrator, for questioning. However, he denied molesting her, claiming that the victim smiled at him first. After the incident, he apologized. As for the 500 baht, he did not offer it, but his mother did. Initially, the police did not believe the perpetrator’s statement. They are in the process of collecting evidence, questioning witnesses, and waiting for a multidisciplinary team to question the victim again before considering pressing charges.
